More than ever before, women who have spent years building their careers are leaving their jobs to raise their children at home. For some, the choice is easy, and they never question their new role. But many women who have achieved success and recognition in their career fields often find the transition to being an at-home mother an isolating, frustrating experience. Mothers First is a non-profit (501(c)3) organization dedicated to helping at-home mothers in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area adapt to a new way of life.

Although we have diverse backgrounds, Mothers First members have one thing in common. We have discovered that no matter how challenging our careers may have been, motherhood is not just the hardest thing we have ever attempted to do — it is also the most important and rewarding. Through various activities, we are here to support you in your choice to be an at-home mother by giving you access to new friends, information and resources.
